“I write articles for my blog, website, and in my newly created alternative medicine-women’s health article directory. I was a featured health writer for Yahoo voices and shine until they closed their doors this month. There were over 250 health articles published in that platform. It was a great experience for many reasons.”

Why did you decide to become a health writer?

It was the most effective way to reach more people than individual counseling. I also wanted to share my passion about herbs and alternative medicine.

How did you get your ‘big break’ as a health writer?

Writing as a featured writer in Yahoo Voices gave me experience. I learned a lot of good tips and advice from more experienced writers in their forums. I earned my first writing money in that platform.

What’s your best piece of advice for those who are considering a career in health writing or who are just starting out?

You should have some background in the medical field. It should be a passion as well. When you write about a subject you are passionate about, the writing flows easier. Get into a group like this one for support. Medical writing is much different than other writing forms.

What’s the most challenging topic you’ve ever had to cover?

Articles on standard medicine, when alternative medicine is my expertise and passion. I can write on both. I worked for doctors for about 5 years as a medical tech, before I studied alternative medicine.

What’s the hardest thing about being a health writer?

Writing the health article on a level that is understandable and interesting to your reader audience. It is also harder to find the right publications to submit your work to. Quality health focused articles contain more depth, more detail and scope than many other writing forms.

What do you love most about health writing and why?

It’s sharing knowledge and information that enables people to live healthier lives.

What inspires you in your career?

My passion to share my love for herbs, health, and alternative medicine.
